About ISO 9000

ISO 9001:2000 is an international standard against which your company’s quality management system can be measured. It can also be used as a guide to enhance your company's existing quality management system according to an internationally recognized set of requirements.  The ISO 9000 system is intended to improve customer satisfaction, reduce the costs of poor quality and improve process efficiency and effectiveness.

Over 400,000 organizations worldwide are registered to ISO 9000 and at least 1,000,000 organizations are compliant with the standard or one of the derivative standards (AS9100, TL9000, etc).

The ISO9000:2000 revision adds some new requirements. Among them: a process approach to quality management, monitoring customer satisfaction, setting quality objectives and continuous improvement. The consensus is the new revision is a substantial improvement over the 1994 revision.
